This year's London Design Festival at the V&A is a sensory celebration of the very best designers based in the Big Smoke, and showcasing his latest installations is lighting extraordinaire Flynn Talbot.

Talbot originally hails from Australia and has made the UK his home. He is fast making a name for himself through his bespoke lighting designs and installations that vary in tone, style and form depending on the space and the connection the user has with the lighting of that space.

It is the first time the V&A has used the Prince Consort Gallery to house a London Design Festival installation and Talbot's "Reflection Room" promises to be "an immersive coloured light experience". Talbot's signature is his sensitivity to the space itself, creating unique installations that showcase the particular room and the Prince Consort Gallery is no exception. Using statement colours and LED lighting, there is an unmistakable futuristic feel, and yet he simultaneously enhances the unique features and history of the space.

INNOVATIONS IN LIGHTING

It has been particularly exciting to see the innovations in LED lighting in the last few years - a new technology that was originally fairly limited in terms of design and versatility. Talbot has exploited this innovation to the fullest and continues to stretch the possibilities for lighting both as an art form and an essential element of interior design.

The London Design Festival will run from 16th to 24th September 2017 at the V&A Gallery, London.
